Wedding Tip of the Week: Time to Invite!

The first element your guests see of your wedding is the invitation or save-the-date card. These pieces are key components - not only do they serve as primary communication with many of your guests, they help establish the theme and style of your wedding, long before the special day arrives.

Whether you're working with a designer on a custom wedding stationary package or ordering invitations with the help of a wedding coordinator, you'll need to start planning once you've secured the major components of your ceremony and reception. Plan to order your invitations at least 6-8 months in advance.

Save-the-dates can go out anytime after you've set the date and location of your wedding. These can be as simple as a postcard with pertinent details and a photo. Your out-of-town guests will appreciate the advance notice so they can make travel plans.

You'll want to get invitations in the mail about four months before your wedding to give guests plenty of time to plan -- and to aid in your own planning as well. Having ballpark head counts will help you when working with caterers, cake artists, and securing rental items.

The sky is the limit when it comes to invitation design, and there are many items your wedding stationary package may include. When selecting invitations, an important consideration is that the look/feel is consistent with the overall theme of your wedding - the invitation sets the stage for the event. A wedding coordinator can help keep all of the elements of your wedding unified and complementary.

Mari Bliss Boutique carries several lines of invitations, to suit all budgets and styles. We have almost thirty different sample books in our store.
